Survival 'relative success' for County

Former Ross County assistant Billy Dodds believes survival in the Scottish Premiership would be "a relative success" for the Staggies and their next manager.

County announced boss Malky Mackay's departure on Wednesday morning, with the side second bottom of the league after 12 games.

Dodds assisted Jim McIntyre in Dingwall, helping Ross County win their first major trophy with the Scottish League Cup in 2016.

"It was a bit of a shock," Dodds told the BBC's Scottish Football podcast.

"They're still competitive but I know they're down the bottom and that's when [chairman] Roy [MacGregor] can get a little bit twitchy.

"Survival is the key. If they stay in the Premiership, it's a relative success.

"They've got a good squad of players. There's a lot of managers desperate to get back in the game as well. It's an attractive job."
