Who says we're too nice? Tim Paine sledge caught on stump mic

Who says the Aussies don’t sledge under new Aussie skipper Tim Paine?

While their banter towards opposition players may have decreased, they clearly aren’t afraid to sledge each other.

GONE TAME: Strange incident shows Australia’s behavioural change

‘SHOW SOME RESPECT’: Fans fume over treatment of Virat Kohli

As you can see in the video above, Paine was picked up on stump microphones taking a cheeky dig at teammate Aaron Finch on Day 3 in Adelaide.

Finch was fielding under the helmet at short leg when Virat Kohli hit a ball that bounced up and struck the Aussie in the throat.

The painful blow left Finch coughing and spluttering, so much so that Nathan Lyon had to abort his next delivery as Finch continued to struggle.

Paine saw his opportunity to pounce and tried to get Finch in his moment of weakness.

“Do you want a dart?” Paine was heard saying, referring to the cigarettes that Finch recently swore off.

To which Finch responded, “I haven’t smoked in six months.”

Finch reportedly quit smoking midway through this year, which he says allowed him to take his game to the next level.

Fans watching at home heard the cheeky sledge and found it quite funny.

Lyon strikes late to bring Aussies back from brink

Booed to the crease by some Australian fans at Adelaide Oval, Virat Kohli settled in style before falling to Nathan Lyon late on a rain-hit third day of the first Test.

The tourists boasted a 166-run lead at stumps on Saturday, having reached 3-151 in their second innings.

India’s hopes of setting a match-winning target took a hit when Kohli was caught, more than an hour after what had been the scheduled time for stumps, but first-innings centurion Cheteshwar Pujara remained unbeaten on 40.

India will feel bullish as they hunt a 1-0 series lead and maiden Test series win in Australia, although momentum has shifted frequently and violently in the low-scoring contest.

Kohli and Pujara shared a cautious 71-run stand, the highest partnership in the match, as they attempted to bat the hosts out of the game.

The highest successful run chase in a Test at the venue is Australia’s 6-315, achieved in 1902 against England, while no side has chased down more than 236 since the West Indies in 1982.
