Jan-Lennard Struff has reeled off the last four games of the match to edge past fellow German Dominik Koepfer and reach the quarter-finals of the BMW Open.

Struff recovered from 4-2 down in the first set - and from drawing a blank in the second-set tiebreak - to advance 7-6 (7-3) 6-7 (0-7) 6-2 in two hours and 39 minutes in the clay court event on Thursday.

"I am very, very happy that I turned around the first set," said Struff in his on-court interview.

"I played a not good second-set tie-break. Before the set was OK, but I couldn't lock into his service games that much.

Struff will attempt to reach his second Munich semi-final when he faces fourth seed Filip Krajinovic in Friday's quarter-finals.

Nikoloz Basilashvili also reached the quarter-finals with a 6-4 6-2 win against Colombian qualifier Daniel Elahi Galan, and will meet Norbert Gombos in the last-eight.

Australia's No.2 John Millman will also be in action on Friday, taking on young Norwegian Casper Ruud in what will be the Brisbane man's first quarter-final of the year.

Meanehile, at the Estoril Open in Portugal, 22-year-old Frenchman Corentin Moutet stunned top seed Denis Shapovalov.

Moutet, ranked 73 in the world, ousted the Canadian 6-4 2-6 6-4 to register his best career win.

Britain's Cameron Norrie reached his fourth quarter-final of 2021 with a 4-6 7-6 (7-1) 7-5 victory against Spanish qualifier Pedro Martinez and will next face second seed Cristian Garin, of Chile, on Friday.
