Hwang Dong-hyuk is returning to direct and executive produce the sophomore season of the series that will start production this year.

The Diplomat, which stars Keri Russell, was renewed in May for a second season.

The political drama comes from Debora Cahn, who is also executive producer alongside Janice Wiliams, Russell and Alex Graves. It follows Kate Wyler (Russell) as the new U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom. She has to diffuse international crises, forge strategic alliances in London and adjust to her new place in the spotlight — all while trying to survive her marriage to fellow career diplomat and political star Hal Wyler (Rufus Sewell).

Finally, The Empress is a German drama series that launched in September 2022. It stars Devrim Lingnau as the titular Austrian Empress Elisabeth of Bavaria, Philip Froissant, Johannes Nussbaum and Almila Bagriacik.
