Two new food and drink spots from the people behind Flat Iron Square will land in Borough next month.

Carrubo and In Horto, which will open side by side on Southwark Street on July 7, are the latest ventures from TVG Hospitality, the group that counts Goods Way, The Social and Omeara among its other venues — with Mumford and Sons band member Ben Lovett as CEO.

Carrubo will be modelled on Mediterranean bayside bars, focusing on small plates — crostinis topped with the likes of white crab and avocado, ricotta and confit tomato, or smoked aubergine with basil, smoked salmon and cream cheese — while drinks will range from on-tap wine, draft beers, classic cocktails and a range of booze-free creations.

The space will comprise al fresco seating as well as covered areas, guarding itself against the unpredictability of British weather.

Meanwhile, In Horto will be a more refined affair, with larger dishes served from the restaurant’s brick oven. The menu will cover whole baked cauliflower with four-cheese potatoes; cod fillet with fire-roasted ratatouille; slow-cooked lamb shoulder with harissa vegetables, and more.

A wine list will bring together bottles from both well-established vineyards and up-and-coming producers, with organic and biodynamic options included.

Both venues will be open from Wednesday to Saturday, with In Horto’s hours running from noon until 11pm, and Carrubo staying open a little later, until midnight.

Carrubo and In Horto will open on July 7 at 53b Southwark Street, SE1 1RU
