In his newly-published book, No Spin, Shane Warne admits that he was jealous of his then-girlfriend Elizabeth Hurley’s warm friendship with her ex, Hugh Grant.

Writing in his memoirs, he says: “The more you’re apart, the more you ask questions.

“I got jumpy about the time Elizabeth still spent with Hugh Grant…

“He is her best friend but they saw each other more when I wasn’t around so, well, you know.”

Appearing on This Morning to promote the book, Warne responded to questions from presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby on whether he had asked Hurley’s permission before writing about her.

Warne said: “Look we're still friends, we had four years of great times together.

“It wasn't anything that she did wrong or I did wrong, it was just one of those things which unfortunately got a little bit too hard. But we're still great friends now.”

Phil pushed the cricketer to make his feelings about Hurley clearer, asking: “You still hold a bit of a torch for her still, don't you?”

Warne replied: “In a way of friendship and respect, We had a great time together and I'll always care about her and her son Damian. She always cares about my kids and always asks about them.

In 2018, Warne sparked speculation that he and Hurley were reuniting, after he sent her an affectionate birthday message.

He Instagrammed a throwback photo of the couple together, with by the caption: “Happy birthday to my ex-fiance & yes- still a very close & dear friend @elizabethhurley1.”

The inclusion of the heart and kissing emojis sent their fans wild with speculation about the two rekindling their romance.

“If you could please get back together already,” commented one hopeful fan.

“You two make such a cool couple. Both family orientated and fun. Get back together.”

Hurley and Warne first got together in late 2010. They became engaged in September 2011.

Just two years later, though, they split, blaming the long-distance nature of their relationship.

Warne resides in Melbourne, while Hurley lives between London and her estate in the English countryside.
