Seebohm's sly dig at Larkin's 'did not cheat' claim

Australian swim star Emily Seebhom has responded to the media storm caused by her former partner Mitch Larkin who broke his silence for the first time since their public break-up.

The split was a highly-talked about topic in June following Larkin’s decision to end the relationship, and yesterday’s tell all interview in the Courier Mail re-opened a can of worms for Seebohm – which she doesn’t seem to agree with.

“The media has reached out to me over the past 24 hours in light of the story from yesterday and to be honest yesterday was an incredibly hard day for me,” Seebohm posted on her Instagram story.

“Reliving it again right now is not in my best interest; both emotionally and physically.

“I believe women shouldn’t be silenced by ken and we should have the courage to stand up when things aren’t right.

“But there is a right time and place for the story to come out and I need to focus on getting myself back on track for what I need to do to achieve my dreams!”

Larkin’s interview addressed the break-up, including the overwhelming number of allegations aimed at him in regards to ‘cheating’ on Seebohm.

“I said ‘this isn’t good, this isn’t what a relationship should be, it’s quite draining’. I came back from a training camp in Thailand and ended it,” Larkin told the Courier Mail.

“Breaking up with her was one of the hardest things I could do, because I adored her.

“That was really tough, ending it, and then to be accused of everything else was a whole other kettle of fish.”

The claims were surrounding Larkin and a certain phone conversation between himself and training partner Abbey Harkin, who he says was just checking in on him as a friend post-split.

“I said to her ‘I’ve never cheated on you … how do you think it’s physically possible for me to do it, we live together, you see me all the time. I don’t know where this was coming from.’”

“She knew me quite well and could see this whole situation was tearing me apart and it was nice to see that she cared enough to check in.

“(But) there was certainly no physical relationship at all, which has been reported many times.”

Larkin also opened up on the toll the very public break-up had on him, including the overwhelming number of allegations that he was a ‘cheat’.

“I’d go to bed positive, thinking I’d got through that day and then something else would come at me, another story saying the same thing…it was an emotional rollercoaster.

“She knew me quite well and could see this whole situation was tearing me apart and it was nice to see that she cared enough to check in.”

But it seems the running back-and-forth saga isn’t set to end just yet, with Seebhom also posting a quote on her Instagram story in light of Larkin’s claims:

“Sometimes the best thing you can do is keep your mouth shut and your eyes open. The truth always comes out in the end.”
