'Mother of the Bride,' from 'Mean Girls' director Mark Waters, is on Netflix May 9
Brooke Shields is back with a sunny new rom-com.
The actress, 58, stars as Lana in the first photo from Netflix's Mother of the Bride opposite Miranda Cosgrove, who plays her daughter Emma. The film also stars Sean Teale, Chad Michael Murray, Rachael Harris, Benjamin Bratt, Michael McDonald, Wilson Cruz, Tasneem Roc and Dalip Sondhi.
Per a synopsis, "Lana’s daughter Emma returns from abroad and drops a bombshell: She's getting married." The destination wedding will be in one month in Thailand.
"Things only get worse when Lana learns that the man who captured Emma's heart is the son of the man who broke hers years ago."
Mother of the Bride is directed by Mark Waters, who made 2004's Mean Girls, as well as 2021's He's All That.

In April 2023, Shields celebrated the start of production on Mother of the Bride, writing on Instagram, "Let the adventure begin!! Filming is officially underway for our new @netflix movie #MotheroftheBride. So excited to spend time with my amazing costars! Can’t wait for a few more to get here."
Shields, who is mom to daughters Rowan and Grier, joked that February when her casting was announced, "Hoping my future mother of the bride duties are far less dramatic than this. So excited to get to work on #MotherOfTheBride!!"
Mother of the Bride is on Netflix May 9.
