Scottish Curling Championships 2024: Team Craik upset Team Mouat's rink to reach final

Team Craik will face Team Whyte in Saturday's men's Scottish Curling Championships final after stunning Bruce Mouat's world champion rink in the semi-final.

Skip James Craik led his side to a thumping 9-1 win over the Olympic silver medallists after just six ends.

The 2022 world junior champions will meet Ross Whyte's rink, who have a 100% record, for the gold medal.

Team Henderson will face Team Morrison in the women's final.

That encounter is a rematch of the first round of the play-offs, when Fay Henderson's team edged to a 6-5 victory.

But Rebecca Morrison's rink grabbed their second shot at glory by defeating Team Munro 7-3 in their semi-final.

Mouat, Grant Hardie, Bobby Lammie, and Hammy McMillan were defending their men's title from last year, but finished third in the round-robin standings.

The world champions defeated Kyle Waddell's rink in the first round of the play-offs, before going down to Team Craik, who took their second chance to advance to the final after losing their first knockout encounter 7-3 to fellow finalists Team Whyte, who progressed straight to the gold medal match as a result.

The women's event concludes at 11:00 GMT at the Dumfries Ice Bowl followed by the men's showpiece at 15:00.

All competing rinks at the Championships are eligible to be picked to represent Scotland at the World Championships later this year.
