'Never OK': Fan's 'disgusting' act rocks wrestling world
A female wrestler has hit out at a fan over a controversial moment that has prompted angry backlash on social media.
American Scarlett Bordeaux was competing in the Lucha Libre AAA event in Cancun, Mexico, when she unwillingly became the victim of a rogue fan's unsolicited attentions.
The 28-year-old was outside the ring and close to the barricade where members in the front of the crowd were gathered.
Bordeaux got up off the ground right next to the barricade when a man in the crowd grabbed her arm from behind.
The man pulled the wrestler towards him, before throwing both arms around her in a hug that was clearly not part of the script.
Bordeaux released a statement after the event to condemn the actions of the man in the video, with fans flooding social media with messages of support.

It is NEVER okay to touch a performer without their consent. I didn’t realize what happened until I watched the footage afterwards being so in the moment after a dive with my back turned otherwise I would have reacted much differently. Thnx to @LadyShaniAAA for having my back https://t.co/2YKT64sKIj

Any self respecting promotion should ban that guy for life. Send a strong message that that kind of behavior is completely and utterly unacceptable and will not go without harsh consequences.

Disgusted doesn’t even begin to describe how I felt after watching this. Disrespectful in its highest form. I feel really bad about this happening to you but extremely happy that you’re ok.

"It is NEVER okay to touch a performer without their consent," Bordeaux wrote.
"I didn’t realize what happened until I watched the footage afterwards being so in the moment after a dive with my back turned otherwise I would have reacted much differently.
"Thnx to @LadyShaniAAA for having my back."
Bordeaux later added her final thoughts to the matter, declaring “my body is mine” and saying no outfit or situation would make the man’s movements acceptable.
Just a final thought. If you wouldn’t want a stranger to grab you on the street, don’t do it to a wrestler as they’re putting their bodies on the line trying to entertain you. To the few who tried to justify this persons behavior-

What I wear is completely irrelevant. Could be a string bikini or a snowsuit, it doesn’t matter. My body is mine and you cannot touch me without my permission. Most fans I encounter are respectful, awesome people and I appreciate you.

Aside from the fact that it’s a person I don’t know trying to grab me from behind when I’m not expecting it (which would make anyone uncomfortable). It became extremely creepy the moment he restrained my arms before doing so.
