Speedway star, 15, on life support after horror crash

A 15-year-old British 250cc motorbike competitor is fighting for his life after a horror crash in Glasgow over the weekend.

Speedway star Sam Norris was rushed to hospital with a "serious brain injury" as a result of the accident in the British Youth Championship at Glasgow’s Peugeot Ashfield Stadium.

The remainder of the event was cancelled as a result of the horrific incident in the 23rd heat of, where Norris collided with another young rider on the first corner.

Ambulance staff and paramedics were quickly on the scene to attend to the teenager, who was taken to a paediatric intensive care unit in Glasgow where he was placed on life support.

His family posted an update on Facebook to reveal the seriousness of his injuries.

"Sam is now at paediatric intensive care unit in Glasgow, he has a serious brain injury, the staff are observing his condition. He's on life support. Thank to all concerned and please pray for him to get well. Claire and Chris," the post read.

"We don't know how it will go, forever optimistic though," Sam's mum added.

"Thank you for all your messages and kind words it's overwhelming and supportive too.

"We keep talking to him telling you're all thinking of him. He's made of strong stuff our Super Sam."

The motor racing world was quick to offer its support to the family and hopes that the teen makes a speedy recovery.
