'What a joke': Sam Kerr slams Jetstar over 'nonsense' passport incident

Sam Kerr has taken budget airliner Jetstar to task, after she was not allowed to board a flight due to her passport being slightly damaged.

The Matildas captain and recent Chelsea recruit shared two images of her passport, which appears to only have some mild wear and tear, labelling the decision ‘a joke’.

Jetstar were approached for comment by 10Daily, telling the website increased restrictions in other countries were behind the decision.

For privacy reasons, the airline did not indicate Kerr’s destination.

“Our crew don’t like being the bearer of bad news but they have to enforce the Immigration requirements of the countries we fly to,” a spokesman said.

“Some countries are more strict than others on this and won’t let you enter the country with a damaged passport."

The spokesman also confirmed to 10Daily that they were working with Kerr to arrange alternative travel plans.

Fans of the football star were less than impressed, taking to Twitter to ridicule the decision.

Fortunately for Kerr, when you’re a superstar footballer and international celebrity, these things have a way of working themselves out.

On Thursday morning, Kerr posted to her Instagram story from Bali - all’s well that ends well it seems.
