MATT HARMON: Russell Gage went from pretty much every cool fantasy hipster's favorite sleeper this year to one of the most difficult guys to project after they signed Julio Jones early in training camp. Right now, Russell Gage-- I will say this for him. I think he's a good player. I think there's a reason that Tom Brady actually went out of his way to recruit this guy to Tampa Bay.
Russell Gage showed last year that he can beat man coverage. He can win as an inside-outside guy. And we know that Tampa Bay needs some wide receiver versatility with-- I mean, Julio Jones, let's face it. He's an age question mark. We know Chris Godwin is coming back from the PUP-- or he did not land on the PUP list. But he is coming back from a late season torn ACL in 2021.
I think that's really the key for Russell Gage's upside. How much time, if any, is Chris Godwin going to miss? Again, he didn't land on that PUP list. But there's also some rumors that Chris Godwin might not be 100% until November. They might not even start counting on him really until like October, November, that sort of range.
So Russell Gage, the ADP has got to come down. We should probably see it continue to fall because he's no longer just locked in to like an 18% target share in this offense. But still like him as long as you can get him outside the top 40 receivers. Right now, I've got him projected for just over 70 catches, just over 800 yards. And he's my wide receiver 44.
