All Blacks on boozy night out

Two All Blacks have stunned onlookers by smoking illegally inside a bar on a boozy night out just hours before one was named in the New Zealand team to face Argentina in the World Cup quarter final.

Cory Jane and Israel Dagg have been disciplined by team management after their mid-week night out in Auckland.

All Blacks manager Darren Shand speaking to the Herald on Sunday said the pair would be reprimanded for the unsanctioned festivities in the north shore suburb of Takapuna.

Witnesses told the Herald that winger Jane, lit a cigarette inside a busy bar while Dagg was swaying and slurring his words.

Smoking has been banned inside bars since 2004.

The Herald also reported the pair was hidden from police who inspected the bar by bar staff.

Shand said the nation would be disappointed in the pair.

"They are the ones who are going to face the consequences now because they are going to be known - particularly across the country - as the guys who let the team down."

"That's what's most disappointing. That guys would do that in a week that we are affected by injury.

The All Blacks face Argentina in Wellington at 6.30pm AEDST. Jane has been selected to play while Dagg will sit out the match with injury.
