Allegations behind All Black 'toilet tryst' made public

The All Blacks Bledisloe Cup preparations have been thrown into turmoil as new allegations emerge around Aaron Smith’s very public ‘toilet tryst’ last year.

The All Blacks named Smith in their team for the Bledisloe Cup opener against the Wallabies on Saturday but he is likely to face some very serious questions from the coach and teammates.

Smith was stood down for a game last year after being caught in the disabled toilets at Christchurch airport with a woman, who was not his girlfriend.

The exact nature of what happened during their rendezvous was never really known and after Smith made an emotional apology to fans and his girlfriend the incident was almost forgotten.

But a Daily Mail report today, which contains alleged messages between Smith and the woman appears to show that much of what Smith said was a lie.

He seemed to pressure the woman with a constant barrage of messages to lie for him and stick to his version of the story in the hope it would blow over.

SMITH: “What I have said is u message me, to come for a chat. I came for a chat, nothing happened in there. I said I got all flustered and left OK. But if anyone ask you something, please say that. Only my coach been hit up ... I’m hoping nothing goes to media OK. Please stick with this, I’m hoping u won’t get brought up OK.”

He kept along with the same line of messaging afterwards as well.

SMITH: Hay stop freakinf out for now ok…So our story is…what u said hun…u were going through a tough time with ur Bf…and wanted to have a chat. That is all ok…But relax for now ok!! Ok??

“Not ur mistake but that our story ok. Delete these message. Baby stop freaking out…may not coming of it.”

However Smith then did tell coach Steve Hansen something happened between them, but again seemingly lied, or at least did not tell the entire truth, that the pair engaged in sex.

The All Blacks star then pressures the woman to sign an affidavit saying the pair did not have sex, as Hansen said if that was the case and he could get the affidavit the media interest may blow over.

SMITH: “OK are you will to do a sawn afterdavided (sic) to say we didn’t have sex in there ...?? “Cause they claim there a video and can hear noise but u weren’t loud at all ...

“So if u swar that we didn’t have sex then nothing may come out in media and will save me heaps Hun. “My coach say if u do a afterdavid think the media will go away and won’t come up!!!! OK ... “I did say we kissed and u gave me h***, just to my coach but no sex OK ...!”

The woman at the centre of the controversy says her life has been turned upside down since the incident and firmly believes she has been made the scapegoat.

“When we got caught he lied about what had happened and asked me to stick to the story he had told his new girlfriend and coach, which essentially put the blame on me,” the woman told the Daily Mail.

“He just told me if anyone asks to say nothing, but if I have to then to just go along with that story, which I wasn’t happy about because it made me look like more easily attainable than what I am.

“At that point I said if you’re going to say that then just leave me out of it, which he promised he had done, but he hasn’t. No-one knows the truth.”

The woman claims the truth is she had been seeing Smith for two years, beginning long before he started seeing his current girlfriend, Teagan Voykovich, who has stood by him throughout the incident.

But she has been made out as the bad guy in the situation.

‘I was definitely the scapegoat so that he could get out of it, he threw me under the bus to try and save his own career,” she said.

She went on to say she has tried speaking more to All Blacks bosses and even Smith’s manager Warren Alcock but they have continued to support smith.

Smith and the All Blacks are likely to cop a torrent of media interest from New Zealand journalists just days out from the opening Bledisloe Cup match in Sydney.
