Social media has field day with AAMI Park surface

Melbourne Rebels were disappointing in their loss to the Hurricanes but not nearly as much as the AAMI Park pitch.

Once regarded as an excellent surface it has become disease-ridden.

After last night’s Super Rugby clash, which the Rebels lost 38-13, the pitch looks liked a mine field.

Every scrum tore it apart, leaving it looking like a sandpit in parts.

Hurricanes skipper Dane Coles slammed the surface after the match.

“It is actually quite dangerous,” he said.

“There’s quite a bit of pressure going into those scrums and both teams were sort of losing their feet.”

However it was social media that had a field day with it.
