US swimmer Ryan Lochte and three teammates were robbed by armed men posing as police in Rio, with the gold-medallist revealing a gun was held to his head.

6:30am: No uniforms and no beach - After the recent robberies involving athletes, Australian team members have been banned from stepping on Copacabana and Ipanema beaches after dark.

6:15am: Diving - Maddison Keeney finishes fifth & Esther Qin sixth in women's 3m springboard final.

6:00am: Cycling - Anna Meares safely through the qualifying round of the women's sprint, while Glen O'Shea finishes fourth in the men's omnium scratch race.

5:45am: Tennis - Japan's Kei Nishikori wins the bronze medal after beating Spain's Rafael Nadal 6-2, 6-7, 6-3.

5:30am: Lochte speaks after robbery ordeal- "And then the guy pulled out his gun, he cocked it, put it to my forehead and he said, 'Get down' and I put my hands up, I was like 'whatever'.

4:55am: Basketball - Klay Thompson finally finds his shooting touch in Rio, exploding for 30 points as Team USA's men edge France 100-97.

4:50am: Golf - Justin Rose shoots a final round 67 to claim Olympic gold for Great Britain.

4:30am: Shooting - Australia's last two competitors bow out of competition with Dane Sampson finishing 20th in the men's 50m rifle 3 position ahead of countryman Will Godward in 39th.

4:15am: Water Polo - Huge result for the Aussies as they defeat Greece 12-7.. Australia now need Brazil to beat Hungary in order to progress.

4:00am: Triplets make history - Estonia's Leila, Liina and Lily Luik made Olympic history when they became the first triplets to compete in the marathon.

3:30am: CONFIRMED - US Olympic gold medal swimmer Ryan Lochte was robbed in a taxi after leaving a party in Rio de Janeiro.

2:50am: Tennis - Gold for Russia in women's doubles as Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina beat Swiss pair Martina Hingis and Timea Bacsinszky 6-4, 6-4. FULL STORY.

2:20am: Basketball - Team USA continue their impressive form in the Group stage, crushing China 105-62.

1:30am: UPDATE - IOC spokesman Mark Adams says Ryan Lochte has told US team officials reports of the incident are not true. MORE.

1:00am: Athletics - Kenya's Jemima Sumgong wins the women's marathon. Aussies Milly Clark finished 18th, Jess Trengove 22nd and Lisa Weightman in 31st. FULL STORY.

12:55am: Athletics - A protester nearly interrupted the finish of the women's marathon after storming across the track.

12:30am: Spectator goes rogue
A spectator thought she was getting a free souvenir as she picked up a golf ball in play, belonging to Justin Rose. She was quickly reprimanded by officials!

12:00am: Lochte held up at gunpoint
Reports emerge from Brazil that USA gold medal winning swimmer Ryan Lochte has been held up at gunpoint at a Brazilian party.
