Sprinter Rhasidat Adeleke has broken her own Irish 300m record at the Millrose Games in New York on Sunday.

The 21-year-old finished second behind America's Talitha Diggs in a time of 36.42.

Adeleke's previous 300m record was 36.87, which she set in January 2022.

Roisin Flanagan clocked a 9:36.70 Irish indoor record as she finished 11th in the two-mile race, which was won by Scotland's Laura Muir after Ethiopia's Medina Eisa was disqualified.

Sunday's performance was the third record Adeleke has broken in a strong start to her 2024 season after the Tallaght sprinter broke the indoor records at 60m (7.15A) and 200m (22.49A).

Mark English enjoyed a strong outing in New York as his third-place finish in the 800m was marginally outside his indoor record of 1:45.10 from 2021.

Meanwhile, Andrew Coscoran finished 12th in the Wanamaker Mile race in a time of 4:01.69.
