Daria Kasatkina has continued her resurgence, becoming the first woman to lift two titles in 2021 with victory in the St Petersburg Ladies Trophy final.

The former top-10 star, whose ranking has slumped to 61, won her first title since 2018 at the Phillip Island Trophy in Melbourne last month and has now followed up by triumphing on home soil on Sunday against fellow Russian Margarita Gasparyan.

Kasatkina, who will return to the top 50 on Monday, was not required to finish the match, with Gasparyan having to retire because of a lower back injury when she was 6-3 2-1 down.

Gasparyan took a medical timeout at 4-1 down in the opening set but had to call it quits after double-faulting twice to lose serve from 40-0 up in the third game of the second set.
