Reporter hits fan after shocking on-air 'grope'

A reporter in Mexico has found herself at the centre of a shocking sexual assault allegation after claiming she was groped by a football fan on-air.

Fox Sports reporter Maria Fernanda Mora was in the middle of a live cross for the CONCACAF Champions League match between Chivas Guadalajara and Toronto FC when the alleged incident took place.

The footage shows the reporter speaking outside the Guadalajara stadium as male fans from the winning side jumped and cheered all around her.

All of a sudden she spins around and angrily smacks one of the men behind her with the microphone after claiming he put his hands between her buttocks twice.

The journalist took to Twitter to vent her anger over the shocking situation and explain her reaction.

“What happened to me at dawn on Thursday, happens to thousands of women every day in public spaces,” she said.

“The difference is that it happened to me during a live link on television and I decided to defend myself. My reaction is what turned the fact into something viral.

“I thought it could be an accidental rubbing because of people pushing and I kept talking to the camera.

“This guy, emboldened because I did not react and kept doing my job, put his hand between my buttocks twice more. I decided to defend myself.”
