Refs not buying ridiculous effort by Dolphins' Christian Wilkins to draw flag vs. Bucs

Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was getting out of hand.

So Christian Wilkins took to desperate measures. He did not succeed.

As the Bucs threatened to score their third touchdown of the first half, the Dolphins defensive lineman got tangled up face-to-face with Tampa Bay running back Leonard Fournette near the goal line. A frustrated Fournette shoved Wilkins away.

Wilkins, who weighs in at 310 pounds, was sent flailing backward. Or so he would have you — and the refs believe.

The acting effort didn't draw a flag. The Bucs scored on the next play to take a 24-10 lead.

Perhaps Wilkins was just working on his acting chops in anticipation of his post-football career. He's already shown that he's a big "Hamilton" fan.

He's got some pipes, too. But he needs to work on the physical acting. Sunday's effort didn't fool the refs — and won't cut it on Broadway.

Miami's effort on the field wasn't inspiring either, as the Bucs rolled to a 45-17 win behind five touchdowns from Tom Brady.
