Redbacks positive coach Siddon will return

Stand-in South Australia cricket coach Greg Blewett is confident Jamie Siddons will be able to return to his post once he has dealt with personal issues.

Siddons was granted leave for South Australia's recent loss to WA in Perth and he'll also be absent for the Redbacks' clash with Tasmania in Hobart, starting Saturday.

With Jason Gillespie coaching the Adelaide Strikers in the BBL, it means Siddons' next match in charge won't be until the Shield resumes on February 14.

Rumours are circling Siddons may not return to coach the Redbacks, but Blewett is confident that isn't the case.

"He's dealing with a few issues at the moment," Blewett said.

"We've got the Big Bash coming up, so he can work through those issues and he'll be back in the New Year."

The Redbacks are currently on an 18-match winless run in the Shield.

They came close to ending that on Monday, only to fall 36 runs short of WA in a thrilling clash at the WACA Ground.

Blewett and his players were left gutted by that result, but they are determined to turn despair into celebrations sometime soon.

"That's whats keeping us going - we know there's a win just around the corner," Blewett said.

"We're really a tight group. We've been through a lot the last couple of years. All the boys have been great."
