'It's a reality check' - Shiels after defeat

Dean Shiels admitted that Glenavon's 2-0 victory against Coleraine was a 'bit of a reality check' but stressed that there was no sense of panic.

Davy McDaid controversially opened the scoring after two minutes with the home side arguing he was in an off-side position before Keith Ward doubled Glenavon's lead just after the restart.

"It's a bit of a reality check for us in regard to what this league is about," Shiels told BBC Sport NI.

"I thought first half we were very good, they score after two minutes and obviously it looks like he [McDaid] is in line with Rory Brown, so how he is not offside I don’t know.

"I thought we responded well, we had two or three good chances, and their keeper made a few phenomenal saves.

"I thought after their second goal, we lacked a bit of belief, and we look tired."

Coleraine, who are the latest Premiership side to move to full-time, were unbeaten this season going into this fixture.

"There is no panic, we are a new team and building a culture, an environment and trying to create a full-time model.

"We just have to keep sticking to the progress, keep the momentum and keep looking to improve on and off the pitch and we'll move the club forward."
