Real Madrid earned an exciting 3-1 win at Eibar to be level on points with La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid.
Karim Benzema and Luka Modric's early first-half goals gave Zinedine Zidane's side a healthy advantage and they held off their Basque opponents to move to 29 points from 14 games.
Kike pulled a goal back in the 28th minute and Eibar put Madrid under a lot of pressure in the second half before Lucas Vazquez struck on the break in stoppage time to seal the win.
"We played a brilliant 20 minutes and scored two, then they (scored) and the game changed," Real coach Zinedine Zidane, after his team's fourth consecutive league win.
"We were concentrating and very focused on the game, it's a hard place to play and an opponent who doesn't surrender from the first minute to the end.
"They had their moments but in general, during the game we controlled it, it was our game."
Atletico have 29 points from 12 matches after their 3-1 win over Elche on Saturday.
Real and Atleti are three points ahead of Real Sociedad, four clear of Villarreal and eight points better off than fifth-placed Barcelona.
Benzema opened the scoring in the sixth minute when he controlled an expert pass from Rodrygo before knocking the ball past goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic.
French striker Benzema then assisted Luka Modric in the 12th after he dribbled around a defender and found the Croatia midfielder arriving unmarked at the edge of the area.
Modric fired a right-footed strike into the upper part of the net.
Eibar got back in the game in the 28th when striker Kike scored with a brilliant strike from outside the area, curling a long shot beyond the reach of Thibaut Courtois and inside the far post.
Moments after Sergio Ramos blocked a chance by Eibar's Pedro Vigas, an attack at the other end saw Vazquez beat Dmitrovic for Madrid's third goal.
Earlier on Sunday, Granada, Getafe and Celta Vigo all recorded 2-0 victories.
Granada beat Real Betis to move sixth thanks to a Roberto Soldado double.
Getafe earned a win at Cadiz, with Cucho Hernandez and Nemanja Maksimovic on target to end the team's run of seven games without a victory.
Celta Vigo defeated Alaves and climbed to eighth with Brais Mendez notching a brace.
