The TikTok account @everythingdisney133 documents, well, everything at various Disney Parks. The posts range from recovered footage from “back in the day” to weekly news updates. But it’s a unique video of the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster with the lights on that’s capturing the attention of Disney fans on the app.

The ride, located at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in California, is inspired by Aerosmith. Park-goers travel in a “limousine” through iconic Hollywood landmarks while listening to the band’s music. It’s weird to see the roller coaster tracks lit up in the footage, especially from the perspective of the front seat.

One commenter summarized the sensation perfectly. “Disney rides with lights on that aren’t supposed to have lights on horrify me for some reason.”

The Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is an example of a “dark ride” — an attraction that immerses riders in a “fantasy” through scenic elements. The storytelling is what separates a dark ride from the kind of traditional roller coaster you might see at a regional theme park or pier. That’s why it feels so weird to go through a dark ride with the lights on — you’re essentially missing out on the main appeal of the ride in the first place.

Plus, it’s scary to see the “tangled wad of coaster” just sitting in a warehouse.

Commenters were amazed at how different the ride seemed with the lights on.

“This video doesn’t do [it] justice,” one person said, referring to the speed of the ride.

“Never realized how close you are to support beams and stuff,” another added.

“I don’t like it,” someone wrote. “Turn the lights back off.”
