The stunning feat of perfection that has the darts world in awe

Scottish darts star Gary Anderson has achieved an incredible feat no other player has achieved since 2014.

Anderson was taking on Joe Cullen at the World Matchplay tournament in Blackpool on Friday when he showed everyone why he’s a red-hot favourite.

In the fourth leg of the match, ‘The Flying Scotsman’ managed to pull off a rare ‘nine-darter’, or a perfect leg.

Nine is the minimum number of darts required to hit 501 and win a leg, but a ‘nine-darter’ is extremely hard to come by.

Anderson started with back-to-back 180’s, before finishing up with the 141 checkout to send spectators into a frenzy.

It’s the first ‘nine-darter’ in the competition since 2014, and helped Anderson to a thrilling 19-17 victory.

“I fancied hitting the nine-darter tonight,” Anderson revealed afterwards.

“Hitting the nine-darter so early was actually the worst thing I did, because it gave me time to think about it and I missed a lot more darts at tops than I normally do.”

If he is still the only player to achieve the feat when the tournament ends, Anderson will take home a cool $80,000 for his efforts.
