Rangers captain Docherty hails academy growth

Nicola Docherty has praised the work of Rangers' youth academy in bringing through young talent.

The captain broke through the ranks herself and can't believe how far the women's side of the club has grown since then.

Kirsty Maclean, Jodi McLeary and Mia McAulay are among the young players who have broken through to the first team in recent seasons.

"The coaching that they are getting now is a credit to Rangers," defender Docherty told club media.

"They are giving the young girls opportunities to be young professional footballers because that is the end goal for them and it can actually happen now.

"If I was to look back on my career to say that I would be a professional footballer you would probably say no back then because it wasn't as big as it is now.

"To see that they can be that is huge."
