Rafael Nadal finishes insane year with historic victory

Rafael Nadal has become the first person to win five Mubadala World Tennis Championship’s after a thrilling victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Tsitsipas defeated World No.2 Novak Djokovic before coming up against the in-form Spaniard in the final.

He also took the first set off Nadal after taking a 5-2 lead in the first set tie break before taking the set.

But Nadal rallied and managed to save multiple breakpoints at 5-4 to hold. He then converted break points of his own to take the second set and force the exhibition tournament into a final set.

There Nadal was able to claim the final set in yet another tie break 7-3 after an incredible three-hour long match.

Earlier in the day, Djokovic defeated Karen Khachanov 7-5, 6-3 to secure third spot.

The win in Abu Dhabi tops off a sensation year for Nadal after claiming the French and US Open.

He also became the oldest-ever tennis player to finish year-end World No.1.
