Michelle Payne hospitalised after fall in Mildura

Melbourne Cup winning jockey Michelle Payne has been taken to hospital after falling in the seventh race at Mildura today.

Payne came off after her mount Dutch Courage appeared to clip heels with another runner.

Payne was assessed by ambulance officers at the track, before being taken to hospital. She was reportedly conscious after the fall and complaining of abdominal pain.

Prior to the fall, Payne was having a successful day at the track, riding two winners trained by her brother Patrick.

Earlier in the day, four jockeys were taken to hospital after a nasty collision in the first race at Taree.
