Lindsay Park Keen on more racing after Sapphire win

Lindsay Park Racing had another successful day at Caulfield.

David Hayes and Tom Dabernig trained Keen Array for Lindsay Park Racing won the $350,000 listed Blue Sapphire Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on Wednesday.

Jockey Damien Lane allowed the horse to settle back in the small field of six horses with only its main rival Mogador and Craig Williams behind him.

With early pace set by Haptic who led the field. The two at the back commenced their forward move as the field approached the turn.

Mogador attempted to chase Keen Array down the Caulfield straight yet to no avail. Keen Array winning by a long neck 3/4 of a length to early leader Haptic.

“It did look a two horse race and it turned out a two horse race"

"I thought Damien showed lovely poise and produced him when it mattered and I think he would have produced very fast sectionals."

"He is a horse with a big, big future,” said Hayes.

“I know that John O’Shea has a big opinion of Mogador and he had to be at his best to beat him. Both horses have huge potential,” he said.

Hayes said that the stable would consider their options for Keen Array with either Red Anchor Stakes at The Valley on Cox Plate Day as an option, or the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on Victoria Derby Day.

“We were very confident he would get to this level. He was my best two-year-old last year and he did not get a hard time in Sydney and it is paying dividends now,” he said.

Jockey Damien Lane felt confident from the outset.

“Right from the moment I sat on him at Geelong I thought he had a big motor and he would go on to better things. He should be unbeaten this prep due to pilot error so he is improving all the time. He is still a green horse so a sign of good things to come”

The day capped a great day for Lindsay Park racing with runners He or She winning the fifth event on the day and Fast N Rocking winning the last.
