Vanbrugh has a good hold on the Spring Champion Stakes

Statistically, the likely winner of the Spring Champion Stakes appears to be the Chris Waller trained colt Vanbrugh. It would be difficult to argue otherwise. His past two wins have been with authority and does meet the majority of runners he conquered in the Gloaming again.

Tatoosh was a lot further back then expected last start in the Gloaming. The positive was that he did cut the margin back in the concluding stages to Vanburgh. Although you would could deduce that Vanburgh has it covered in more ways than not.

Man of Choice was another runner to race in the Gloaming Stakes. He was troubled in obtaining a vital run just as Vanburgh was making its run out-wide. However when finally clear and in open space there didn't appear to be much left for a challenge.

Are we clutching at straws looking for a winner outside Vanbrugh?

Maybe not.

Two horses have traveled south of the border from Queesland, and whilst it is difficult to compare the form. They may well have a better chance to push the favourite.

Two Good To Refuse races handy and that may be beneficial. Can run quick times and has a good turn of foot. The distance may suit even though his breeding would say otherwise. Deserves his chance as the definite danger.

I'm Belucci, in his short four career runs to date he still is rather green when racing. Missing the start and giving horses like Vanbrugh any advantage is not going to help. The small size of the field however may assist and he does have talent. All of which I'm Belucci will need to bring to race day if he is to seriously challenge Vanbrugh.
