Chilling photos emerge from inside Jeffrey Epstein's jail cell
Conspiracy theories over the cause of Jeffrey Epstein’s death are rife once more after chilling images from inside his cell – as well as graphic photos from his autopsy – were revealed.
The convicted sex offender’s death last August was ruled a suicide, but his autopsy photos and images from his cell after his death tell a different story, former New York City Medical Examiner Dr Michael Baden told the US version of 60 Minutes on Sunday night (local time).
The photos from inside Epstein’s cell show orange bedsheets strewn across the cell with two nooses created from their fabric.
The noose collected as evidence showed no signs of being cut despite the guard who discovered Esptein saying he cut him down, sources told 60 Minutes.
The two guards who were responsible for checking on Epstein have since been charged with falsifying records to cover up their failure to check on the billionaire.
There was also strips of bedsheet tied to the bunk bed and window inside the cell which appeared frayed at the end.
Injuries aren’t consistent with hanging, expert says
Photos from the autopsy show a thin, bloodied line across the middle of Epstein’s throat that doesn’t extend to the back of his neck. It’s these images that don’t add up to suicide, Dr Baden said.
“This noose doesn’t match the ligature furrow mark. It’s wider than this,” Dr Baden said.
“Most hangings, especially free hangings, the ligature slides up to beneath the jawbone, the mandible. Here it’s in the middle of the neck.”

It was also pointed out the noose in the cell appeared to not have any blood on it, and there were other items in the cell that could have been used for a suicide attempt.
60 Minutes also showed a picture of Epstein’s broken hyoid bone, a small bone in the neck.
According to Baden, this is another indicator that Epstein did not kill himself.
“I have never seen three fractures like this in a suicidal hanging,” Baden said.
“Going over over a thousand jail hangings, suicides, in the New York state prisons over the past 40, 50 years, no one had three fractures.”
Baden’s conclusion will only fuel the conspiracy theory that Epstein, a convicted sex offender who was associated with some of the world’s most powerful people like President Donald Trump and former President Bill Clinton, was murdered.
But the New York City Medical Examiner’s Office stands by its ruling, and despite what some may glean from the autopsy photos, others wholeheartedly disagree with Dr Baden.
When asked if there’s any way Epstein could have been murdered, former federal prison warden Cameron Lindsay replied, “Absolutely, unequivocally not.”
