People Are Rallying Behind Jordan Chiles After The Gymnast Was Stripped Of Her Bronze Olympic Medal
A movement in support of Jordan Chiles has sparked online after the US gymnast was stripped of her bronze medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
If you're catching up, Jordan competed in the women's floor final in gymnastics and originally earned a score of 13.666, placing her behind Romanian gymnast Ana Barbosu. However, the US team appealed her score, which was accepted and resulted in a bump that earned her the bronze.
Later, the Romanian federation appealed against Jordan's appeal, and the Olympics' Court of Arbitration declared that Jordan's appeal was filed after the 60-second deadline and could not stand — which meant the bronze would be awarded to Ana Barbosu.
It's important to note that within Romania's appeal, they offered to share the bronze medal between Jordan and Ana, NBC New York reports.
NOW, USA Gymnastics has filed another appeal, citing video evidence that they say shows their first appeal was filed in 47 seconds and not past the 60-second deadline.
