A new documentary follows Sabato De Sarno's beginnings at Gucci, giving an intimate look into the designer's process in the run up to his very first collection for the Italian fashion house. The short film has been directed by Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost, and was narrated by actor and Gucci ambassador, Paul Mescal.

De Sarno was appointed creative director in January of last year, and presented his first collection for the house in September. He took over from Alessandro Michele, who had been at the helm of the brand for eight years, and became known for a maximalist style. This was worlds away from De Sarno's first collection, which was more minimalist and classic.

Who is Sabato De Sarno? A Gucci Story looks at this new chapter for the house, how his vision came to life and the extensive work that went into creating the collection. The 20-minute film premieres on Mubi today, while there will also be screenings in major cities across the globe, and the film will be able to watch on all Air France flights for the whole of April.
