Report: Patriots' deal for tight end Michael Roberts falls through after failed physical
The New England Patriots are still on the lookout for a tight end. While the team believed it had partially solved that issue Thursday by trading for Detroit Lions tight end Michael Roberts, that is no longer the case.
Roberts reportedly failed a physical, which is why the trade wasn’t completed.

Roberts was sent back to the Lions, and the team decided to waive him.
The 25-year-old Roberts, who was drafted in the fourth round in 2017, was limited to eight games last season due to injuries.
The Patriots have been searching for tight ends after Rob Gronkowski retired in the offseason. While the team signed Ben Watson, he’s suspended for the first four games of the year.
