Osasuna held to scoreless draw by Celta Vigo

Osasuna have missed a chance to move closer to the European places after being held 0-0 by Celta Vigo in the Spanish league.

The setback left Osasuna in eighth place and extended their winless streak at home in the league to three matches, following successive defeats at the hands of Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid - games in which they also failed to score.

The home side had been boosted by a 1-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final last Wednesday, and won at Sevilla in the league the previous weekend.

They had an effort by Chimy Avila disallowed for offside in the 74th minute and again came close to breaking the deadlock when Pablo Ibanez's close-range attempt was saved by Celta goalkeeper Ivan Villar in the dying seconds of the match.

The result leaves Celta in 12th spot in La Liga, but only three points clear of the relegation places in the congested bottom half of the table.
