Orioles reportedly have no plans to trade Manny Machado

The Orioles reportedly have no plans to trade third baseman Manny Machado in the offseason, despite the fact he is expected to command an enormous pay day when he becomes eligible for free agency after the 2018 season.

MLB Network Insider Jon Heyman reported Thursday an Orioles source told him, "It would take us 35 years to find another player like him."

At the same time, Heyman notes many baseball insiders expect there is "zero" percent chance the team will be able to sign Machado to an extension beyond his current contract.

A three-time All-Star, Machado is expected to be in line for a deal worth more than $200 million, and Heyman said he could even command a "Giancarlo Stanton-type deal" worth more than $300 million.

Machado, who at 25 is already finishing his fifth full season, has 33 home runs, 94 RBIs and an .805 OPS this year.
