Disgraced influencer returns to YouTube with 'relatable' video: 'My name is cleared'

Olivia Jade Giannulli has returned to YouTube and posted her first video in over a year.

For those not deep in the YouTube vlogger world, Jade’s name is still notable because of her parents’ involvement in the infamous 2019 college admissions scandal. Her parents, actress Lori Loughlin and designer Mossimo Giannulli, paid $500,000 in bribes to get both of their daughters into the University of Southern California and pretended they were rowing recruits.

Jade was recently in the news for appearing on Red Table Talk to discuss the scandal with hosts Jada Pinkett Smith, Adrienne Banfield Norris and Willow Smith.

“I went on Red Table Talk and now my name is cleared,” Jade says in the new video upload.

Jade stopped posting on YouTube in December 2019, telling fans: “I’m legally not allowed to speak on anything going on right now.”

Toward the end of December 2020, Jade replied to a fan’s comment on her TikTok account, saying that she planned on coming back to YouTube in 2021.

“I am really excited because obviously, I haven’t filmed in a really long time,” Jade begins the video. “I’m just grateful to be back on YouTube and really excited for you guys to watch this video.”

Now the influencer is back with a 15-minute daily vlog that seemed like nothing out of the ordinary for the YouTuber.

“The thing I wanted to do the most was apologize for so long and I feel like I got to do that at Red Table [Talk,]” she explains in a separately filmed clip she says she added in while editing. “Although I can’t change the past, I can change how I act and what I do going forward.”

One of those changes appears to be donating a portion of her advertising money from YouTube to a charity she “works with and really admires.”

“Feeling good vibes from you in this vid!” someone commented. “Everyone deserves redemption.”

“Let the girl apologize and move on,” another added. “Everyone deserves a second chance.”

“I actually find you to be way more relatable now than you were before,” a commenter said. “An apartment instead of a mansion, a Cuisinart coffee maker, you laying in your dog’s bed and petting him lol. I’m gonna like this.”
