Last week Netflix dropped their TV series adaptation of David Nicholls' One Day, and it's safe to say we've walked away from the series in floods of tears, a desire to reread the book, and a complete utter with obsession with Ambika Mod.
Ambika does an incredible job of bringing the hopeful and determined Emma Morley to life in the 14-part series. And if you're anything like us you'll be desperate to see her in anything and everything else you can.
Ambika, 29, began her starring career in a number of short films and has since gone onto star in a major BBC drama, appear opposite Billie Piper in I Hate Suzie and of course playing the lead in Netflix's One Day.
So if you're in the mood for a major Ambika binge-watch, then these are all her projects you need to watch now.
Ambika Mod's TV shows
One of Ambika's first on screen roles was in Apple TV+'s series Trying, which centres on a couple who are struggling to conceive, and so they look towards adoption. Ambika has a small role as an usher in series two episode eight.
This Is Going to Hurt (2022)
The role that most people recognise Ambika from is her role as Shruti in the BBC adaptation of Adam Kay's book This Is Going to Hurt.
In the series Shruti is a trainee doctor, working under Ben Whishaw's character Adam, who struggles with the increasing pressures of her job. Ambika was highly praised for her role in the series, so basically you need to watch it right now.
I Hate Suzie (2022)
In 2022 Ambika also starred in the Sky series I Hate Suzie, which stars Billie Piper as a former teenage pop star and actor, who struggles to keep her life on track after comprising photos are leaked from her phone. Ambika starred in two episodes of season two as Una Finch, you can see her in episode one and three of the second season.
One Day (2024)
Ambika takes on the lead role in Netflix's One Day, alongside Leo Woodall as Dexter. One Day is an adaptation of David Nicholls' novel of the same name and follows the lives of best friends Emma and Dexter over the course of 20 years, checking in on them the same day of each year to see how their relationship has developed. Warning: you will end the series in tears. It's a non-negotiable.
And thankfully the Ambika content is not going to run out any time soon, as she's set to star in upcoming series Playdate.
Playdate is a Disney+ adaptation of Alex Dahl's novel of the same name. Also starring Holliday Granger, the drama series will tell the story of a woman who realises her daughter has been kidnapped from a playdate and a Europe wipe search hunt ensues.
