Obi Toppin: Knicks shaped me to who I am now with the Pacers
Obi Toppin: "Having to go through what I did in New York, I say thanks to them because I felt like I went through my hardest times there. Now I’m just hooping—free and happy. Every time I messed up before, I’d put my head down, look at the bench, thinking I was coming out. Now, I’m just out there hooping and being a sponge, learning the game every day. My coaches now are amazing—they want to see us develop and get better every single day."

More on this storyline
Obi Toppin: "When you’re the eighth pick in the draft, you’re supposed to feel like, 'I’m that guy.' You’ve got to have a little cockiness, where you’re like, 'I’m him.' When you go into the league with that confidence, other guys want to see that—you’re not scared, you’re not afraid of the moment. They want to see why you’re the eighth pick. I wanted to live up to that so much it hindered me. You need good vets and people around you to keep your head on straight because it’s not going to be happy and dandy all the time." -via YouTube / November 15, 2024
