NPFL Matchday 27: El Kanemi Warriors host leaders Plateau United

NPFL Matchday 27: El Kanemi Warriors host leaders Plateau United

Nasarawa United Vs Gombe United

Gombe United travel to Nasarawa United on Sunday looking to build on an encouraging win against Abia Warriors last time out.

The Solid Miners come into this one sitting in ninth place and seven points above the Savannah Scorpions.

Staying afloat has been a clear aim for Gombe, they are in the relegation zone and an upturn in form is needed if coach Manu Garba will see this season through.

El Kanemi Warriors Vs Plateau United

El Kanemi Warriors can always count on a huge support base whenever they play in Maiduguri. However, their performance in the 4-0 loss to Enyimba had lot of eyebrows raised.

They are still well placed for a tilt at the title, which with their huge squad and fan expectations will be a must for the men in yellow.

It appear Plateau United are coasting away from their rivals in the battle for the coveted league shield. They have looked well set up under the watchful eyes of coach Kennedy Boboye this term.

With five points above second-placed MFM, the Peace Boys will be focusing on getting at least a draw at the El Kanemi Sports Complex.

Akwa United Vs Enyimba FC

This is expected to be the match of the week as Akwa United lock horns with Enyimba at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.

The two clubs follow each other on the NPFL log with a difference of only one point separating them. Enyimba are on the third spot with 41 points while Akwa United are below with a point lesser. Both teams are up for the three points to pace up their title ambitions as most of the clubs believe that the race is still open.

Whoever blinks first between the two respected coaches, Abdu Maikaba and Gbenga Ogunbote, will definitely carry the day.

Lobi Stars Vs Enugu Rangers

Enugu Rangers ambush Lobi Stars in Makurdi, with the sole aim of improving their current status of 12th position.

The pressure will be on Lobi's in-form forward Kingsley Eduwo to help his team dust off their disappointing 1-0 loss to Wikki Tourists.

Playing on the continent is the major priority of the two teams. The game could go either ways.

Sunshine Stars Vs Abia Warriors

Sunshine Stars and Abia Warriors will be on the pitch squaring it out in their 27th match of the season.

The heated season has seen some teams like the Owena Whales falling to the wayside. The team is now placed in an unfamiliar 17th position in the standing with 30 points.

Their opponents, Abia Warriors, however are placed higher in the 11th position with 35 points.

The last time the two clubs met was February 8 at the Umuahia Township Stadium, the spoils was shared in a 1-1 draw. Sunday's encounter, however, promises to be a thrilling one with Sunshine Stars fighting to depart from the relegation zone.

MFM FC Vs ABS FC

The Agege Stadium has been a fine home ground for MFM who have not lost there in 2017 and the arrival of ABS will provide them with a good test.

The Saraki Boys will face a revitalised Olukoya Boys, looking to continue their good run of form so far.

MFM are second on the log with 43 points, while ABS have 35 points and are in 14th place.

The trio of Stephen Odey, Sikiru Olatunbosun and Chukwuka Onuwa will lead MFM attack in Lagos while ABS will rely on Adeshina Gata and Mohammed Mohammed for ammunition.

Shooting Stars Vs Wikki Tourists

Anything less than a win will be a setback to Shooting Stars in the race to escape relegation.

Coach Fatai Amoo has declared his intentions to play an attacking quartet in the game against Wikki Tourists at the Lekan Salami Stadium.

Wikki Tourists will be riding on a three-match unbeaten run as they head to the ancient city of Ibadan. They are also far from beating the drop as they currently occupy 15th position in the table.

Niger Tornadoes Vs Remo Stars

Niger Tornadoes haven't fared well in three consecutive games as they have picked up just one point and they welcome Remo Stars to the Confluence Stadium on Sunday.

Remo Stars are in big trouble, edging ever closer to relegation, and coach Fatai Osho is under increasing pressure to turn things around.

Two defeats in the last three matches, in which the Sky Blue Stars' defending has been underwhelming, have left their faint survival hopes hanging by a thread.

FC IfeanyiUbah Vs Katsina United

FC IfeanyiUbah are on a mission to redeem themselves against Katsina United after losing twice in three previous games.

Yaw Preko has been demanding ‘more’ from his forward line and after scoring a dismal one goal in their last three matches. Preko will be hoping they can amend the situation.

Away from home, Katsina United haven't had it smooth. They will be fully loaded to cause an upset following Wednesday's win at home over Niger Tornadoes.
