'Not retired': Dana White calls Conor McGregor's bluff
The door is still open for Conor McGregor’s return to the UFC – at least according to Dana White.
The UFC president called the Irish superstar’s bluff, more than a week after McGregor sensationally retired from the sport via Twitter.
In an interview with local news in Las Vegas, White said fans should not consider McGregor to be retired from the UFC just yet.
“I think there’s some things that Conor wants. I think that Conor wants to get together, face-to-face, he and I, and we probably will in the next couple of weeks to get this thing figured out,” White said.
“He’s stuck on this thing where he wants a piece of the ownership. I think there’s other ways we can make him happy.”
McGregor has long coveted shares in the UFC, boasting an association with several of the largest pay-per-view audiences in the company’s history.
White’s refusal to budge on the matter has led to growing tension between the two, with White declaring “Michael Jordan never owned a piece of the NBA”.
While that was true during Jordan’s playing days, after he retired Jordan went on to become the owner of NBA franchise the Charlotte Hornets.
McGregor staying active, online at least
To say it’s been a strange couple of weeks for McGregor would be an understatement.
Since announcing his retirement, McGregor has posted a few tweets that could be charitable interpreted as cryptic.
Most notable was his bizarre challenge for Mark Wahlberg, whom he called out on Twitter.

Clearly, shares in the company are extremely important to McGregor.
As for word on his next fight, that will be up to White, should the aforementioned meeting between the two actually go ahead.
