Former Premier League midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker says everything about Tottenham is inconsistent this season as they lost 6-3 at home to Liverpool on Sunday.

The nine-goal thriller was the latest instalment of entertainment for Spurs fans, following the dramatic victory over Manchester United in the Carabao Cup last week.

"The problem with Tottenham is that they take one step forward and two steps back," said Reo-Coker on BBC Radio 5 Live's Football Daily podcast. "That is no good when they are trying to get on a level to compete for trophies.

"They got themselves back into the game at two goals down and you then go on to think: 'Will they surprise you?' And then they let you down again by conceding another poor goal.

"Everything about them is inconsistent."
