LIV Golf Investments have named two members to the leadership team of the organisation, which is endeavouring to start a new league with Hall of Fame member Greg Norman as its commissioner.

The group announced the selection Friday of Sean Bratches, who spent nearly 30 years at ESPN followed by a stint with Formula One and will serve as chief commercial officer, and Ron Cross, a former PGA Tour and Augusta National official who will be the chief events officer for LIV Golf.

"We believe the game of golf is poised to grow on a global scale and we are ready to make the necessary strategic investments to support its growth," said Norman, the CEO of LIV Golf Investments, in a news release.

"The addition of Sean and Ron to our leadership team delivers an unmatched level of experience and expertise that will allow us to make an immediate impact.

"I'm excited to get to work and look forward to the months ahead."

LIV Golf is investing $200 million ($A270 million) into the Asian Tour to fund a series of 10 tournaments that could start as soon as 2022 and lead to a new Saudi-backed golf tour.

The agreement with the Asian Tour would allow players to earn world ranking points, and it also could serve as a feeder tour to provide enough players for tournaments that likely will target PGA Tour players to take part.
