A dramatic Caulfield Cup came right down to a photo finish, with Best Solution overcoming top weight to prevail victorious.
Ridden by jockey Pat Cosgrave, the Godolphin-trained horse toughed it out to fend off fended off Homesman and The Cliffsofmoher to jag the $5 million dollar race.
“My horse is a good stayer. He toughed it out,” Cosgrave said.
“It was a battle, he stays well hard and tough had all well to Saeed and the team.
“We knew he would stay well, and a horse I didn’t want to be getting into a sprint from 500.
“Look, I was thinking I didn’t want to turn it on too turn. He did well in the end.”
Riding at top weight, the win sent some fans into a frenzy – absolutely baffled by Cosgrave’s outstanding ride:
Best solution had no right winning off that weight from that draw.

Epic stuff. Northern Irish jockey Pat Cosgrave grabs a second group one victory in Caulfield. Saeed Bin Suroor now has two Australian group ones in the space of eight days. Best Solution wins the #CaulfieldCup.
