'No balls': Golfer's stunning spray for PGA officials

Shane Lowry has delivered a withering spray to officials over a controversial moment late in the PGA Championship.

The Irishman was left fuming after being forced to hit from behind a TV tower on the 16th hole during Sunday’s final round.

Lowry was sitting four shots behind eventual winner Brooks Koepka when he sprayed his tee shot on the Par 3.

After a lengthy discussion with officials about whether or not he was entitled to a free drop, Lowry was forced to play the ball where it was.

After the round, Lowry slammed the two officials, saying they failed to make a definitive decision.

“I think the referee didn’t have the balls to make a decision there, and if he did I would have had an easier shot,” Lowry told the Irish Times.

“They were getting me to drop it in the middle of the tree. I can’t, so where do I drop it?

“They’re saying, ‘drop it here’. But I drop it a club length to the left-hand side, which I am obviously going to do, it is still going to be in my way.

“Between ifs and buts, he wouldn’t make a decision. And I was like, ‘what? Do you know what I am going to do lads? I am just going to play. We’ll be here all day’.

“I didn’t want to wait around any longer and get another referee involved. It is what it is.”

Lowry’s shot came up short of the green, leading to a costly bogey.

After another bogey on 17, he fell from sixth to eventually finish 12th.
