Nintendo announced a raft of exciting new Switch games at its third Direct event of the year.

Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Wario will star in their own titles in the coming months, while classic racing game F-Zero is getting the multiplayer treatment.

Nintendo already hosted an extended preview of Super Mario Bros. Wonder earlier this month, so it was no surprise that it only made a cameo this time. There was also no word of the rumoured Switch 2, with Nintendo instead focusing on the games that will see out its current console.

Here’s everything that was announced at Nintendo’s online showcase.

Nintendo’s Switch games

Princess Peach: Showtime! (March 22, 2024)

Peach takes centre stage in a show-stopping battle against a wicked witch. We can’t wait to see Kung-Fu Peach and Swordfighter Peach dish out a royal walloping. But she can also transform into Patissier Peach to make desserts and Detective Peach to solve crimes in this variety-filled adventure. Princess Peach Showtime is available to pre-order now.

Mario vs. Donkey Kong  (Feb 16, 2024)

Mario and Donkey Kong will reignite their rivalry in this modern spin on the 2004 Game Boy Advance game. Players will control Mario as he tries to reclaim mini toy versions of himself stolen by Donkey Kong across numerous puzzle-filled stages. The updated version also includes local co-op. Mario vs. Donkey Kong is available to pre-order now.

F-Zero 99 (Sept 14, 2023)

If the words Mute City get your motor running, you’ll go nuts for F-Zero 99. More than 30 years after it zoomed on to the SNES, Nintendo has transformed the iconic game into a fierce battle royale racer. Muscle your opponents around the electric-fenced tracks in this galactic skirmish against 99 other drivers. If it’s anything like Tetris 99 or Super Mario Bros. 35, this is going to be an addictive ride. F-Zero is out today as a freebie for Nintendo Online subscribers.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (2024)

Nintendo is clearly fond of raiding its back catalogue. So, for its umpteenth remaster, it’s bringing back the second entry from the Paper Mario series. The game whisks players on a treasure-hunting adventure with allies including Goombella the Goomba and Yoshi. Originally released on the GameCube in 2004, the new title features the distinctive, paper-drawn aesthetic of the Mario spinoff games. There is no official release date yet, but it is expected some time next year.

WarioWare: Move It! (November 3, 2023)

Get ready to work up a sweat in the new WarioWare minigame extravaganza. Taking a cue from yoga, the new game is all about poses, only here the results are as eccentric as Nintendo’s mustachioed antihero. You’ll perform actions like pecking, lassoing grinning llamas, and completing hand gestures. While a four-player party mode should have everyone in stitches.

Super Mario RPG remake  (November 17, 2023)

Nintendo showed off more gameplay footage from its remake of the SNES game Super Mario RPG. We were shown the new game’s timed attacks, which allow you to wield more damage to enemies and defend yourself. You’ll also be able to perform custom triple moves based on your troop. And, if you enjoy battling a certain boss, you can revisit them again after you’ve completed the game. Super Mario RPG is available to pre-order now.

Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD (Summer 2024)

Untangle that poltergust vacuum and get ready to hoover up some spirits in this remastered version of the 2013 Nintendo 3DS game. Best of all, you’ll be able to form a ghost-hunting squad with three other players online to take on new multiplayer modes.

Detective Pikachu Returns (October 6)

Nintendo gave viewers another look at its new Detective Pikachu game. Set in a town where humans and Pokémon live alongside each other, the new title involves Pikachu helping his pal Tim Goodman track down his missing father.
