The first trailer has been revealed for Nick Frost's upcoming horror-comedy movie Krazy House.

Premiering at the upcoming Sundance Film Festival, Krazy House sees Frost play Bernie Christian, a man who is forced to defend his home and his family (who bear a resemblence to characters in a 90s sitcom) after a group of Russian workers he hired turn out to be wanted criminals.

Clueless' Alicia Silverstone joins the Hot Fuzz actor, playing Bernie's wife, with an official synopsis for the film reading: "Set in the 1990s, Krazy House follows religious homemaker Bernie and his sitcom family.

"When Russian workers in Bernie's house turn out to be wanted criminals, Bernie has to man up and save his imprisoned family, while slowly going crazy."

In the teaser clip, we're introduced to the Christian's, a cookie-cutter sitcom family, as they prepare to celebrate Easter at home.

In charge of the preparations, Bernie has everything "all under his control" until a "slippery situation" with a pair of sandals strapped to brushes causes him to comically fall and break the kitchen sink — much to his wife's dismay.

"How many times have I told you to take off those stupid things," Silverstone's character shouts, as Bernie wrestles with the broken tap.

However, the trailer suddenly switches up with the arrival of a sinister looking group of workers as their arrival leads to a series of violent showdowns with the family.

"Can Bernie find a solution and fix the mess he created... or is he going to lose his mind?" a voice-over for the trailer asks.

Krazy House has been written and directed by Dutch filmmakers Steffen Haars and Flip van der Kuil (New Kids'), with the project being the first English language film by the pair.

Gaite Jansen, Walt Klink, Jan Bijvoet and Kevin Connelly also star, while Chris Peters and Matti Stooker round out the cast.

Krazy House will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January.
