Hayne fan stands out in blue arena

In a sea of blue, one Jarryd Hayne fan stood out among 80,000 at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium on Monday.

Seth Vanbenschoten proudly wore his San Francisco 49ers jersey to the match, literally becoming a man among Giants.

Throughout the 30-27 loss to the New York Giants, Vanbenschoten wasn’t afraid of the crowd as he supported his favourite player.

"I follow him through the rugby channel in the United States," Vanbenschoten told News Corp Australia.

"The guy was just a powerhouse, he’s an animal. The minute I heard he was a 49er I went out and bought the jersey.

"I figured, ‘What the hell, this guy is going to be a stud. This guy just puts his arm down and hammers through. The guy’s a beast.'"

Hayne fell only four yards away from his first touchdown during his fifth NFL match but Vanbenschoten is confident it won’t be long before the former rugby league star will be celebrating.

"It’s very random [he’s moved onto NFL], rugby is a very different sport, but he’ll do fine in American football," he said.

"The coaches have to let him play to his abilities, like a quarterback, just let him play."
