49ers LOSE AGAIN

Jarryd Hayne’s San Francisco 49ers slumped to a third straight defeat, beaten 17-3 by Super Bowl favourites the Green Bay Packers.

It wasn’t the blow out score line many people predicted but Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers produced enough big plays to ensure his side remains unbeaten.

The 49ers offensive woes continued for a third straight week.
Quarterback Colin Kaepernick threw one interception and was sacked six times.
Hayne didn’t see any snaps on offence with the 49ers using Reggie Bush as their back up running back.

The former NRL star returned three punts for 12 yards and recorded a fumble after he was knocked over by a teammate while trying to make a fair catch.

With the season slipping away for San Francisco, they could ignite their struggling offence by giving Kaepernick more room to move outside the pocket.

DOLPHINS FIRE THEIR COACH

Joe Philbin is the first head coach fired this season. Miami’s 27-14 defeat to the New York Jets in London was the final straw.

There were such high expectations for the Dolphins this season and after slumping to 1-3, it was no surprise that Philbin was fired.

The Dolphins much hyped defence hasn’t shown up in the first four games while their offence has yet to produce.

I tipped the Dolphins to be a wild-card team at the start of the season but at the moment it looks like they will finish bottom of the AFC East.

EAGLES’ STRUGGLES CONTINUE

There was plenty of hype around the Philadelphia Eagles and Chip Kelly’s offence coming into this season.

But the Eagles have failed to deliver so far and are 1-3 following a heartbreaking 23-20 loss to the Washington Redskins.

Quarterback Kirk Cousins threw a 4-yard game winning touchdown pass to Pierre Garcon with 26 seconds left.

The main issue with Philadelphia’s offence is they simply can’t run the ball.
DeMarco Murray only rushed for 36 yards on 8 attempts and a 30-yard rush inflated that.

Unless they can fix their holes on the offensive line, the Eagles are going to find it tough going for the rest of the season.

SAINTS WIN THRILLER

The New Orleans Saints recorded a first win of the season, with a thrilling 26-20 overtime victory over the Dallas Cowboys.

On the second play of overtime, CJ Spiller collected a short throw from Drew Brees and took it 80 yards to the house.

It was some way for Brees to throw the 400th touchdown pass of his career.
It’s another tough pill to swallow for the Cowboys as they lost their second game without quarterback Tony Romo.

AUSSIE WATCH

JORDAN BERRY - The Pittsburgh Steelers only had themselves to blame after a 23-20 overtime loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Aussie Jordan Berry produced a solid performance punting six times for 239 yards with his longest effort going for 51 yards.

BRAD WING - The New York Giants moved to 2-2 on the season with a 24-10 win over the Buffalo Bills. Wing was called into action 8 times totalling 355 yards and downing the ball inside the Bills 20 yard line an impressive four times.

Four huge games headline Monday morning’s NFL action on 7mate

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS at CINCINNATI BENGALS

LIVE AND FREE ON 7MATE FROM 4AM AEDT

After starting the season 0-2, the Seahawks have bounced back with two straight wins following the return of Kam Chancellor.

But Seattle still isn’t firing on all cylinders offensively.

They scored 13 points in Tuesday morning’s win over Detroit and only held on to win thanks to Calvin Johnson’s fumble late in the match as he dived for the end zone.

The Seahawks will welcome back running back Marshawn Lynch but he will find it tough going against the undefeated Bengals.

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS at DALLAS COWBOYS

LIVE AND FREE ON 7MATE FROM 7.30AM AEDT

After enjoying the bye weekend, the Patriots will expect to continue their undefeated start to the season against the Cowboys.

It doesn’t get any easier for Dallas in their third game without quarterback Tony Romo.

Running back Lance Dunbar is set to miss the rest of the season with a knee injury while Dallas will be hoping middle linebacker Sean Lee is right to play after suffering a concussion against the Saints.

Former Panthers defensive end Greg Hardy will make his debut for the Cowboys after serving a four game suspension.

The 49ers are back in primetime - will they shine or stumble on the big stage against the Giants.

The pressure is well and truly on Colin Kaepernick and this is a huge chance for him to prove his doubters wrong.

An Aussie will be punting to another Aussie for the second time in three weeks with Jarryd Hayne to catch punts from Brad Wing.
